Style is an ISO and CHAS accredited company, helping companies with moveable walls comply with their health and safety obligations. By law you must be able to demonstrate that servicing/maintenance is taking place and that this is being logged and recorded.
Health and Safety and Welfare Regulations including the Provision of Work Equipment (PUWER) 1998 section 2 and sub section 6 clause 2 states that;
Every employer shall ensure that work equipment exposed to conditions causing deterioration which is liable to result in dangerous situations is inspected at suitable intervals (i.e. regular servicing), and circumstances that are liable to jeopardise the safety of the work equipment may have incurred so as to ensure that H&S conditions are maintained (i.e. planned regular maintenance and operator safe system training).
By law you must be able to demonstrate that servicing/maintenance is taking place and that this is being logged and recorded. This would be important if an accident occurred and/or Health and Safety Inspection took place.
The benefit of regular servicing is to ensure the extended warranty of the product and parts (see Warranty details), ease of movement, optimum acoustic performance and a constant, undisrupted availability of flexible room space.
Style is an ISO and CHAS accredited company offering the most comprehensive service packages for movable walls in the UK. We are the only approved contractor in the UK that is able to service Dorma, Huppe, Skyfold, SWG and Espero products.
All Style engineers are fully employed and trained on all matters relating to Health & Safety, including CSCS, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling and Risk Assessments – and our training programmes for our engineers are CITB approved. We pride ourselves in ensuring the very highest levels of health and safety competence for our engineers. Training for all employees is carried, and references and documents evidencing this can be provided.
At Style, we take a responsible attitude to this question and we do not want to alarm customers or frighten them into taking out service contracts.
However, the laws and regulations are quite clear so in order to help you decide and understand your obligations.
In relation to servicing, as per current Health and Safety Legislation, we have provided a helpful Health & Safety facts sheet which you can view or download.
For all products supplied and installed by Style, we have an operations manual. Our operation manuals provide advice and instruction on how to operate your moveable wall correctly and safely, and look after the system once installed.
