At an academy school in Staffordshire, Style was invited to create flexible space in the drama room, enabling more than one class to take place at the same time.
By dividing the space, the other side of the room can also be used for alternative activities when smaller drama classes don’t occupy the whole room.
Style installed a Dorma Huppe Variflex moveable wall. This market-leading moveable wall offers lightweight and smooth operation, making it easy for staff to quickly divide the room into two or open it up into a large open plan space.
Its impressive 55dB acoustic rating means concurrent classes can take place undisturbed, even if a quieter class is taking place on one side while a noisy drama class is on the other.
In addition, the Variflex panels are manufactured separately to the frame, which means that the panel linings are easy to change if one is damaged or scuffed, which is a real benefit in busy schools and can deliver a significant saving over time.
“The Dorma Huppe Variflex is perfect for this busy school,” said Steve Williams, Style’s sales director for the midlands.
“Thanks to its high acoustic rating, it is a hugely popular moveable wall solution in the education sector where its essential to optimise the use of space while ensuring classes and activities do not disturb one another.
“Its for the reason we have seen such an increase in demand from schools, colleges and universities which are all seeking to make the most of their teaching areas, with room flexibility being key.”
With a black finish on one side and white on the other, the moveable wall is a stylish addition to the academy’s drama facility as well as a practical one.
The moveable wall is also a highly sustainable solution, complying with environmental product declaration (EPD) in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
